If you are someone that likes all things shiny and sparkly, then you have come to the right place. Hey there, my name is Marcel Frei and I own and operate this blog which is actually something of a tribute to my father Michel. He was born and raised in Switzerland, where he learned to become a watchmaker like his father and grandfather. He and my mother moved to the United States before I was born, and although I have never traveled back to the homeland of my parents, I feel like I know a little about the country by the way in which my dad talks about it.
He also loves to talk about watches, gems, and all sorts of jewelry, especially since he has had his own store for over 30 years. I remember as a child being fascinated by watching him open up the back of a watch and work. All the pieces seemed impossibly small, yet he was able to work with them as though they were many times their size. It was all so effortless to him and I wanted to know how he did it and how I could follow in his footsteps.
My chance will be coming soon as he plans to retire this year, leaving the shop in my hands. I learn something new every day from my father and I thought it would be a good idea to share some of those tips and ideas through this blog. I have much to learn about this business still, and my hope is to share my education with you the reader in hopes that you will develop the same sort of passion for the world of watches and gems that I have.
